How does this program work? What should we expect? With the Pilot Navigation Cross-Country training program, you will undergo 5 days of intensive training which includes both ground and flight trainings. A number of ground lessons will be done to increase your theory level such as flight planning, performance and limitations, national airspace system and special use airspace, weather reports, diversions, and emergency procedures to name a few. You should also expect to be briefed with both a pre-flight and post-flight briefing that is done to ensure all flight trainings will go as planned.
You should expect to undergo dual cross-country flight trainings, solo cross country flights trainings and solo cross country flight of 150 nautical miles in total distance with full stop landings at three areas, and a straight line distance of over 50 nautical miles between take off and landing destinations. All of these which will be done in the United States of America (USA).
Some of you may be asking, why would we need to be able to fly cross-country? What can I get out of it? Being able to fly cross-country may not be a priority to some, however, in times of emergency, having the ability and the license to fly cross-country may be crucial. Maybe someone you know is sick in a different country and there are no flight that would take you there, whip out that PPL and fly out in an instant, you’ll be glad you’ve got your restrictions lifted. You could also use your license to your advantage by getting your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and taking tourists on a trip from Singapore to another country!
